How to Create New Outlook PST Data File to Move or Copy Items to It

1. Go to File -> New -> Outlook Data File

2. Click OK to created MS Outlook PST File

-> To create a Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders file (.pst) that offers greater storage capacity for items and folders and supports multilingual Unicode data, click OK.

6. Press on ‘Yes’ to have Excel and save the latest worksheet as a CSV file. The original workbook or the .xlsx file closes. After this close the CSV file as well.
   Note: By going through above mentioned steps, you have done with Excel. Begin with import process in MS Outlook.

Second Step: Begin Import Process

1. Go to Outlook, Press File >> Open & Export >> Import/Export.
   Note: This help begin working with Import and Export Wizard.
2. Select Import from some other program or file and press ‘Next’
3. Select Comma Separated Values and press ‘Next’
4. Browse the CSV file you need to import.
5. Under the Options, select if you want to replace duplicates (existing contacts), generate duplicate contacts else will not import duplicates.
6. Press ‘Next’ and select the destination folder. Select the contacts by default, but if this is not the case, scroll up or down until and unless you fetch them. You can find a different folder otherwise, create a new folder.
7. Click Next.
8. Ensure that check box next to Import ‘MyContacts.csv’ is chosen.
9. ‘Map’ few of the columns in your CSV file to the contact fields in Outlook. With mapping you can easily import contacts turn out the way you need.

Third Step: Map CSV files columns to the Outlook contact fields

1. Press the Map Custom Fields button and you will find it popped up on screen.
   -> A box containing names from the CSV file you're importing will appear.
   -> Under To, you will find the standard fields which Outlook uses for contacts. In case when a field matches with the column in the CSV file, you will see the column under Mapped from.

When I was searching for a solution to move some contacts (i.e. 263 to be precise) from my phone into a new Google account. When I tried to perform it manually,  it will only let me select one file at a time for importing & it can be a time consuming process for 263 contacts.

• Note down path for your .vcf files or Copy it from address bar
• Open command prompt (Press Win+R, type CMD then press enter)
• In command window, type CD then paste (right click and select paste Ctrl+V will not work there), then press enter.
• Change the current drive to drive with vcf files (if it is in E drive type E:) then enter
• Then type copy *.VCF all.VCF then press enter
• Now all the VCF files will be append to newly created all.VCF File & can work on all VCF supported platforms.

How to Backup in Windows 8 System - Image Backup & File History

With the availability of two options, user can choose any of the desired option from these two:

1. Launch Windows System Image Backup & Backup Windows 8 system

It is great to have Windows system backup option in Windows 8. You can launch Windows backup tool for that follow:

Control Panel  >> Windows 7 Backup File Recovery & then you can click "Set up backup" option.

Else, you can directly launch Windows backup option with "sdclt.exe" using Command Prompt.

With Windows Backup you will be allowed to have an image backup of full system or selected files & folders on network location or an external drive. You are also allowed to create system repair disc which can be used to repair & restore the system in any bootable situation.

2. Backup Windows 8 With File History

File History is the name of Windows 8 backup which can backup only those files which are available at user data locations i.e. libraries, desktop folder, contacts & favorites. To backup a random folder, you are supposed to add it to your libraries.

With the completion of process to setup File History, Windows will start saving copies of your files on a regular time basis. Files can be saved on a network or to an external drive automatically in the background.

In case you have used an external drive, File History will resume saving process when external drive is plugged in.

Ntbackup.exe Is Unable to Restore Data - Invalid Data Stream

Situation: When Ntbackup.exe tool is used to restore data from Windows backup file (.bkf), user can face the following error situation:

" Unable to Restore"

Reason: Error situation is faced when Ntbackup.exe encounters with an unknown data stream. There can be stream id's in third-party .bkf file that are unknown to Ntbackup.exe tool & it can be the reason for the cause of error. "Unable to restore" is the error message faced while restoring bkf file via Ntbackup.exe tool as instead of skipping invalid data stream, it comes up with the error.

Solution: Solution for this problem is updated service pack of Windows 2000

It Applies with: MS Windows 2000 Server, MS Windows 2000 Advanced Server, MS Windows 2000 Professional Edition

Important Note: After updating Windows server 2000, you will be unable to restore complete data files as Ntbackup.exe will skip the invalid data stream; just to continue with the restoration process.

Windows 8.1 is not availed with any facility of restoring backup created within older editions of Windows OS so, for sure if you will try forcefully the backup restore of Windows XP to Windows 8.1 then, you may stuck in backup corruption problems.
